We spent 3 days in Grand Teton & decided to do the Jenny Lake Trail hikes the first day. We arrived at 7:30 am to get an early start.
-
-
The Trails to Inspiration Point, Cascade Canyon & Hidden Falls started at the other side of the lake.
-
-
By taking the boat ride over, we cut the approximately 6 mile hike in half.
-
-
The ride was good & the views of Jenny Lake from the boat early in the morning were great.

We decided to take the alternate trail back down to Jenny Lake – it was also the “Horse Trail”

There wasn’t quite room enough for all of us on the trail!!

The Horses & Rider had the “right of way”

Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park is a world-famous lake that sits directly at the base of the Teton Mountain Range.
-
-
The Jenny Lake Overlook is probably the best vantage point to see the Teton Mountain Range directly behind Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park.
-
-
The one way paved road from North Jenny Lake Junction leads to a high point overlooking the Lake, called Jenny Lake Overlook.
-
-
It’s a fantastic view, but you must take the NORTH Jenny Lake Junction road off of the Teton Park Road, and take the Jenny Lake Scenic Drive.
-
-
Visitors can park their car at the overlook and access the path which leads to the 6.6-mile long trail that winds around the entire lake.
-
-
This picture and the previous of Jenny Lake were taken at various points along the trail.
-
-
At some of the Overlook viewing areas there are small trails that lead down to the lake to get lake views as well

The Snake River runs through both Grand Teton NP & Yellowstone NP. At 1,078 miles (1,735 km) long, it is the largest tributary of the Columbia River, the largest North American river that empties into the Pacific Ocean.
-
-
It traverses through rugged mountains divided by rolling plains and is a beautiful sight to see from the Overlooks in Grand Teton NP
-
-
The Chapel of the Transfiguration is a small log chapel in Grand Teton National Park. The chapel was sited and built to frame a view of the Cathedral Group of peaks in a large window behind the altar.
-
-
The Chapel was built to serve guests and employees of the dude ranches that stretched north of Jackson along the base of the Teton Range. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places

Leigh & String Lakes located north of Jenny Lake are smaller and not as wide, especially String Lake which you can hike all the way around.
-
-
On a map String Lake looks more like a wide spot in a river that connects the Jenny and Leigh Lakes.

An interesting Squirrel feasting on a very large mushroom along the Leigh-String Lakes trail.
-
-
The north end of String Lake is shallow & rocky – this is the transition area between the two lakes. Water flows from Leigh Lake, through a stream for a short distance, and into String Lake.

Within Grand Teton National Park is the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve consisting of 1,100 acres of land located on the shores of Phelps Lake donated by Laurance S. Rockefeller. Originally the land had been purchased by John D. Rockefeller in 1932 & served as the Rockefeller family’s summer retreat.
-
-
To create the preserve, 30 log buildings & 2 roads were removed from the land & it was returned to its natural state. A trail system was created & a visitor center built. This is Lake Creek along the 2 1/2 mile loop trail in the Rockefeller Preserve.
-
-
The eight-mile network of trails lead visitors on self-directed hikes of different lengths to scenic views of Lake Creek, Phelps Lake and the Teton Range.

On our last morning in Grand Teton we spent our time trecking various campsite & marina trails to see Jackson Lake. Almost 15 miles long, Jackson Lake lies at the base of the Tetons.
-
-
Jackson Lake is located in northern Grand Teton National Park & is accessed by the outer Teton Park Rd or John D. Rockefeller Parkway
-
-
Jackson Lake & Mount Moran across from it.
-
-
We stopped at different camp sites and walked the trails to get these pictures
-
-
Every view proved to be as breath taking as the one before it.

The campsite & marina trails provided me with an opportunity to get some great pictures of one of the most beautiful lakes in our country.
